IoT Applications is New Category at Taipei Cycle d&i Awards
TAIPEI, Taiwan – The registration for the Taipei Cycle d&i awards 2018 has officially been opened. Designers, manufacturers, and distributors across all sectors of the industry are invited to register their designs until 31 August 2018. An all new category is ‘IoT applications in cycling’ which includes mobile devices, wearable devices, Bluetooth devices, cloud systems and service solutions.
Designers, manufacturers, and distributors across all sectors of the industry are invited to register their designs until 31 August 2018. Both exhibitors and non-exhibitors of the Taipei Cycle 2018 are all welcome to enter their latest innovations.
The five categories of the Taipei Cycles d&i awards 2018 are:
· Components + Parts
· E-bikes + Pedelecs
· IoT Applications in Cycling
Use of advanced technologies in cycling
“We are bringing an all new and fresh look to the Taipei Cycle d&i awards 2018,” Amber Tung of the organizer iF Design Asia Ltd. “In recent years, IoT has been steering the bicycle industry toward new directions of application and initiated the trend of improving riding performance and rider comfort using advanced technologies. For this reason, a brand-new category, ‘IoT Applications for Cycling’, has been added to the Taipei Cycle d&i awards.”
According to iF Design Asia the submissions to this category might include wearables, handheld devices, Bluetooth-connected components, cloud systems, or system integration software for riding activities and the bicycle industry.
More Gold Awards for bicycles and e-bikes
To encourage innovation in the design of complete bikes, four out of the eight Gold Award trophies this year will go to the best complete bikes and e-bikes. Moreover, to support the innovative efforts of new and upcoming companies, the winner of the ‘Gold Award – Young Enterprise’ special honour will be exempted from the award winner’s fee.
The jury session of the Taipei Cycle d&i awards 2018 is scheduled to take place on 18 and 19 September 2018. The awards’ ceremony will take place on 30 October 2018, just before the start of the Taipei Cycle 2018 which is schedule for 31 October to 3 November 2018.
