FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – Out of the box and radical thinking make start-ups important drivers of innovations, also in the bicycles industry. However, gaining market access is not always easy for newcomers. Eurobike created a new concept for young companies offering them a format to support their market entrance.

Following the launch of a separate category for start-ups at the Eurobike Awards last year, Messe Friedrichshafen is taking the format one step further: one day before the trade fair starts, on Saturday 7 July, the start-up finalists will present their companies and products live in a pitch event to industry participants and a jury. This will give the young companies feedback on their ideas as well. Immediately after the pitch event, the award winners in this category will be announced.

Successful and failed start-ups

On Sunday 8 July the Eurobike Start-up Academy will present successful as well as failed start-ups from the bicycle scene and explain how to prevail on the bicycle market and what mistakes are essential to avoid. The seminars and workshops will also provide information on financing, networking, and opportunities for partnerships.

The Berlin-based agency Velokonzept will support Messe Friedrichshafen in the planning and execution of this new Start-up Academy. They are a proven expert in this field with the organization of the highly regarded Start-up Cycling Conference in November 2017.

Forward-looking and innovative

“For each industry, regular renewal and the creation of a new momentum for young companies are invaluable to remain forward-looking and innovative,” says Eurobike show manager Stefan Reisinger. For us the topics of the start-ups are more than just another item of the supporting program.

The 27th Eurobike will be open from 9 am to 6 pm from Sunday 8 July to Tuesday, 10 July and is only accessible to trade visitors and accredited journalists.

One day before Eurobike 2018 starts, this trade journal organizes its annual Conference at Messe Friedrichshafen (Room Schweiz, Conference Center West). On Saturday 7 July keynote speakers as well as a Q&A session will address the topic of what’s ‘behind the scenes of online sales’ in the bicycle industry.
