BOXMEER, The Netherlands (Feb 1) – Rim maker Rigida is seriously revamping their Dutch factory, reason: production methods must become more flexible. Rigida currently produces over 3.5 million rims at this location (Rigida International also has factories in France, Malaysia and China, together they produce some 12 million rims). Rigida’s slogan for 2006 is: “More rims per production unit with encreased quality and fast production switches”.
According to Rigida International CEO Jan Willem ten Dam, the big advantage of the changes is that Rigida will be prepared for the market situation and customers demands for the years to come. Also the company will have much more flexibility in the production to supply more customized products. The revamping of the Rigida factory takes an investment of over half a million Euro. In April the remake of the first part of the program will be ready; in the meantime production and delivery will be as usual.
