The main news on DT Swiss’s wheel set range is the introduction of the Tricon 1700 series. This model is available in a road race, the R 1700 as well as a MTB, the M 1700 version.

Both wheel sets are priced below the two top models introduced last year. Nevertheless the R 1700 and the M 1700 feature more or less the same techniques. The Tricon M 1700 for MTB is a light and stiff cross mountain wheelset and of course, Swiss made.

The M 1700 features a SBWT welded rim as well as the high-end Tricon hubs. These hubs have very high precision cartridge bearings and a star ratchet drive system. For lacing the wheel sets, DT Swiss uses the open crowfoot technique: a spoke pattern with combined radial and crossed spokes for high stiffness and perfect transmission of torques.

The Tricon M 1700 is available with a build-in width of 100 mm/5 mm and 100 mm/15 mm in the front and 135mm/5mm and 142mm/12/mm in the rear. The light semi aero wheelset Tricon R 1700 comes in two types as well: a 100 mm/5 mm in the front and a 130 mm/5 mm (Shimano) as well as a 130 mm/5 mm (Campagnolo) in the rear.

Next to the Tricon 1700 series, DT Swiss this year also launched the M 1800 wheel set as well as the X470 and M520 rims. All three products are targeted on the growing 29er bikes market.
