Gold for Merida at Taiwan Excellence Awards


TAIPEI, Taiwan – The 21st edition of the prestigious Taiwan Excellence Awards 2013 resulted in a Gold plus a Silver award for Merida.

The Gold Award winning Merida is the Warp TT, a time trial road race bike, while the Silver is the Big.Nine E-Lite, a 29″-wheel electric-powered mountain bike. The 2013 awards follows Merida’s biggest win ever last year with two Taiwan Excellence Gold Awards.

Merida’s Warp TT is a time trial race bike specially designed for the UCI Pro Team Lampre-Merida and also for triathlon race. For both purposes, the product combines the aerodynamic of the complete bike, high torsional stiffness which is hard to achieve at aerodynamically profiled frames and biggest possible adjustment range for different riders’ positions.

The Merida Big.None E-Lite Merida combines the high-level sports MTB with race-proven 29er geometry and the usage of the popular Bosch central engine for sporty applications.

Award based on R&D, design, marketing and quality

Taiwan Excellence Awards, hosted by Taiwan’s International Trade Bureau of Ministry of Economic Affairs, is recognized as the highest-level of innovative products competition for all kinds of local industries. The Awards is based on four different criteria: R&D, design, marketing and quality.

This year there were as much as 1,221 products from 483 companies competing for the Taiwan Excellence Gold Awards. Eventually, merely 10 sets of state-of-the-art products are successfully crowned the Gold Awards.
