Varta Presents Off-the-Shelf E-bike Battery Solution
ELLWANGEN, Germany – Varta Microbattery developed a new li-ion rechargeable e-bike battery pack which is available off-the-shelf. This CellPac Bike battery service including the new off-the-shelf solution is called ‘VARad’ and will be promoted next week at Interbike in Las Vegas.
Successfully designing high-end power packs for the Industrial, Medical and Communications markets, Varta Microbattery now expands with the Bike division to bring their know-how into pedelecs and e-bikes.
The service offers a package from design-in to testing, the complete range of steps from A to Z which are indispensable to offer a strong, safe and aesthetically pleasing power pack for pedelecs.
High discharge rate
One design example and off-the-shelf product is the new ‘VARad’ which provides continuous discharge current of 25A and a peak current of 30A. According to Varta common pedelec power packs provide just continuous discharge currents of 14A to 15A and peak currents of 20A. Thanks to this high discharge rate the Varta battery can run the motor longer at its maximum power of 250W than other systems can.
Earlier GO SwissDrive already selected Varta as their battery supplier. Varta’s made-to-measure battery for Go SwissDrive offered a continuous power output rated at 25A, and a peak power output of 30A, limited to bursts of five minutes’ duration to drive GO SwissDrive’s powerful motor.
