Bosch Optimizes Distribution For Low Volume OEMs

REUTLINGEN, Germany – To meet growing demand, Bosch eBike Systems has entered into a distribution partnership with Universal Transmissions GmbH. In the future, Universal Transmissions will also be supplying bicycle manufacturers with low production volumes and is to be their first contact on technical matters.

In a press release Bosch states that, “The partnership is also intended to provide optimal service for special segments such as Enduro or cargo bikes. As the European distributor of Gates Carbon DriveTM technology, Universal Transmissions already intersects with Bosch in the bicycle business.”

“Universal Transmissions benefits from the experience in frame design of its sister company Nicolai GmbH,” says Universal Transmissions’ CEO Karlheinz Nicolai. “Also Nicolai and Bosch eBike Systems have collaborated successfully for several years.”

Experience in e-bike design

Universal Transmissions will be in charge of sales for Bosch. “At Nicolai GmbH we have already designed many different e-bikes and speed pedelecs with Bosch drive systems, our customers can benefit from this know-how. We can also provide the best possible assistance to obtain the certification of e-bikes,” says Karlheinz Nicolai.

“We still see a growing number of manufacturers who specify our system and in the future many of them will be served by Universal Transmissions, a company that has experience in dealing with sophisticated technical issues,” says Armin Harttig, Head of Sales and Service at Bosch eBike Systems. Universal Transmissions has already rented additional storage facilities and hired more staff. They will handle sales and distribution for all EU countries as well as Switzerland and Norway.
