Will TAITRA Move Taipei Cycle Show to October?
TAIPEI, Taiwan – ‘Taipei Cycle’ organizer TAITRA is considering to change the dates for future editions of the show and for that sent out a survey to exhibitors as well as business relations last week whether to move the show to October or stay in March. A move to October would bring Taipei Cycle in direct competition with Taichung Bike Week and Eurobike as they announced to partner last April.
According to TAITRA, some exhibitors have suggested to shift the show dates. Why TAITRA is just now surveying the exhibitors and others is unclear. However, it is obvious to assume that this is related to last April’s announcement by Eurobike that it is to, “‘Take Up an Active Role in Taichung Bike Week”.
Two editions of Taipei Cycle?
The discussion about the timing of Taipei Cycle has been going on for several years as with its current March dates it is scheduled too late in the product cycle of the industry.
The survey leaves room for suggestion that TAITRA might organize two editions, as people are asked if they would make a return visit, if Taipei Cycle is also held in October 2017, in addition to its regular dates in March. In the short survey TAITRA also asks people if they would visit Taipei Cycle when it would be rescheduled from March to October.
Direct competition with TBW
In case TAITRA would decide to organize Taipei Cycle in October it would interfere directly with the popular Taichung Bike Week which is set this year from October 18 – 21. This event has built a strong position in the bicycle industry in the past years and is spread out over four hotels in downtown Taichung, The Splendor, The Tempus, The Evergreen and The Lin Hotel, with more than 450 exhibitors.
