BRUSSEL, Belgium – The European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) has started the selection and bidding process for cities that want to host the world’s premier cycling conference named Velo-City Global

ECF’s Velo-city conference series is the annual global cycling summit, organized by the ECF and selected host cities. Velo-city conferences serve as a global communications and information platform and aim to influence decision makers, and improve the planning and provision of infrastructure for the daily use of the bicycle in an urban environment. The conferences traditionally involve experts, representatives of associations, institutions, policy-makers and social agents, universities and companies.

Profile of candidate cities

The ECF is are looking for cities with inspiring ideas on how cycling is approached by different cultures, the creative solutions that exist in cities outside Europe – innovation, behavior-change programs, broad alliances- and any proposal that answers the question: What makes people adopt cycling in their everyday life? The next host cities of the biggest global cycling summit should:

Aim to be a global leader in sustainable mobility. ECF is not only interested in existing cycling conditions but is also looking for the vision and the commitment to improve cycling for everyone.

Share best practices with the international cycling community and raise awareness to their own citizens.
