AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (19 September 2000) — For the time being Sturmey-Archer (Europe) BV will not be affected by the current woes of its parent company in the UK (see home page of this site). According to managing director Alan Clarke, none of the company’s seven employees will be laid off. “We will also continue supplying components to our clients and handle after sales service and guarantees in the usual way. The financial situation at Sturmey-Archer Europe BV is healthy. In addition, we are structured in such a way that the bankruptcy of our mother concern in the UK will not directly affect us,” says Clarke.
He adds that Sturmey-Archer Europe has a month’s worth of stock in the Netherlands for its OEM clients. Likewise, Sturmey-Archer Europe with continue supplying Brooks saddles in its usual way. “Brooks saddles operates separately from Sturmey-Archer. In terms of sales all is well with Brooks. The company will have absolutely no problem finding a buyer.” (JO)
