AMERSFOORT, Netherlands (2 july) – Trek Bicycle Corporation gives up its German subsidiary in Langen, Germany. According to a Trek press release the German Trek, Gary Fisher and Klein business for Germany will move to the European office in Amersfoort/the Netherlands that is also the home of Trek-Netherlands. While the German staff (6) in Langen will loose their jobs, five of the six sales reps will continue to work for Trek Bicycle Corporation. Starting on July 9th the new general manager of Trek-Germany is Christoph Volk. The native German Volk has been working at the company’s headquarters in Waterloo/Wisconsin. He will succeed veteran Steven Lindenau who will become a director of public relations & governmental affairs. The native American Lindenau leaves Europe after almost 13 years. It was Lindenau who built up Trek in Germany. According to the press release the end of the German subsidiary is the result of the increasing tough competition on the German market over the last couple of years. (JB)
