DORTMUND, Germany (July 27)- German bicycle Parts & Accessories distributor Trisport gave up its exclusive import brands and will continue as an agency. Trisport’s former distribution brands Spy and Giro found already new German distributors. Camelbak is still searching for exclusive distributors in both outdoor and bicycle sectors. Trisport also sold its own Sunshine brand to McBase Marketing in Waltrop. According to Andreas Bobon, president of McBase, Trisport’s general manager Pingo Magduschewski will still be responsible for Sunshine bikewear. McBase itself will come out soon with wintersport and beachwear under the Sunshine brand name. Magduschewski acquired the Sunshine trademark about two years ago when Sunshine had to declare bankruptcy. Magduschewski re-started the Sunshine brand with bike-, beach- and wintersportwear. Due to low orders he soon had to cut the beach and wintersport wear segments. Since then the Sunshine brand has been concentrating on nothing but bikewear. Magduschweski has been successful in his change from a specialty retailer to an importer. But since he (due to the Sunshine brand) also had to become a producer his Trisport company was facing serious financial problems. According to the Trisport voice mail they will continue as an agency. Pingo Magduschewski himself was not available at the time of writing. (JB)
