WATERLOO, Wisconsin USA (31 October) – Klein bicycles will move its complete production from Chehalis, Washington (in the northwest of the USA) to the premises of the Trek parent company in Waterloo, Wisconsin (midwest). Klein bicycle Corp. was founded in 1975 by Gary Klein, who always has been out to make technologically perfect bikes without compromise. Klein has been a pioneer in aluminum frames. Models like the Mantra and the Quantum are newborn collectors’ items. In 1995, Gary sold his brand name to Trek Bicycle Corp. The transfer of production has logistical and efficiency reasons. Annual production of the exclusive Klein bikes has during the past years been around 15.000+ units. Gary Klein himself will continue to do development work for Trek (and of course Klein). His staff of 35, mainly skilled craftsmen, have all been offered similar positions in Waterloo.(OB)
