MAARSSEN, Netherlands (September 21) – Next to all the other reflective surfaces that are compulsive on bikes in Holland, a white front reflector will be added as of 2006. Yellow or white circular tyre reflection, a red rear reflector and yellow pedal-reflectors are already necessary. Reason for this extra measure is that bikes will be more visible when standing still (and their dynamo driven lights do not work) why this measure is being taken now, when lots of bikes are switching to battery powered lights is a bit unclear. The ENFB, the cyclists’ pressure group has already commented that bikes are becoming more and more like Xmas trees. They see more in being more observant when participating in traffic. (MH)
