Biria: Loss of 220 Jobs

NEUKIRCH, Germany – Lone Star Funds, the owners of what remains of Biria Bike GmbH after they sold their mail delivery bike portfolio, decided to close the Biria factory in Neukirch in Saxonia at the cost of 220 jobs. The Biria factory in Nordhausen (140 employees) will remain open.
The sales of Biria’s most valuable part has obliterated the fact that this move directly leads to a loss of 220 jobs. The development and contracts for Biria’s successful mail module (bikes and e-bikes) was the master-move of manager Gerhard Urbannek to save Biria four years ago. (JB)
