MATTIGHOFEN, Austria – KTM Bicycles is slowly and cautiously using its motorcycle reputation to roll out its bicycle distribution over Europe. Today’s figures of the Austrian manufacturer are € 60 million turnover for 130,000 adult-size bikes per year (plus 13,000 children’s bikes). KTM Fahrräder owner Carol Urkauf-Chen is satisfied with her business. “KTM has developed quite well over the past years, and we have a comprehensive collection. But we were still working in the old factory, and we decided for a new office building that will be opened next September.

The new building will house the backoffice, R&D and a test laboratory.” Assembly remains in the adjacent old premises that will be refurbished in stages.

Invited for a preview of the new premises, we observed that not everything was ready yet. The test laboratory, which has cost an investment of € 200,000, will be operational after the summer holidays.
