BRUSSELS, Belgium (December 6) – At its General Assembly in Brussels on 29 November 2001, the COLIPED (Comite de Liaison des Fabricants Europeens de Pieces et Accessoires pour Deux Roues) members elected Mr Willo Blome (Germany) as new President and Mr Pascal Marchand (France) as new Vice-President of the association, herewith replacing the former Vice-President and President ad interim Mr Pietro Boselli. Mr Willo Blome (37) is the Chief Executive Officer of SKS Germany, a family owned manufacturing company, producing pumps, mudguards and dirtboards. The SKS-group has a turnover of 72 million Euros and employs about 800 people. Mr Pascal Marchand (45) is Managing Director of Basta Group France, owned by the Dutch Axa-Stenman Industries and producer of lighting equipment and locks. Basta Group has a turnover of 27 million Euros and employs 200 people.
Upon their election, Willo Blome and Pascal Marchand immediately expressed their desire to turn the objective of ‘defending the common interests of the European Two-wheeler parts & accessories’ Industries’ into concrete actions incorporated in a long-term vision. A new strategy will be developed, closely monitoring and dealing with the needs of the European industry and will be built around protection, promotion and development. The incoming President and Vice-President both feel that focusing on the protectionist actions alone is not the answer to the industry’s needs. “A common development programme that is supported by promotion can offer better protection for our industry”, states Willo Blome. Pascal Marchand fully supports this view and adds: “A great tool to move forward is innovation. We will be looking for ways to encourage this”. Willo Blome and Pascal Marchand will clearly put their mark on the new COLIPED philosophy, in which transparency, co-operation and consultation will be given high priority. (JO)
