Harmonizing Standards Discussed at China Cycle
AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – Next Sunday, April 13, China Cycle starts in Shanghai. This year’s 24th edition is themed: “Technology Innovation and Quality Improvement”. At the show industry associations from China and Europe meet to discuss a possible harmonization of safety standards for bicycles and e-bikes.
This year’s China Cycle will be visited by an important delegation from Europe. Industry associations for bike makers and part makers in Europe will take part in the delegation and are represented by COLIBI President (and Accell CEO) René Takens and COLIPED President Jan Willem ten Dam (CEO Ryde International). President Manfred Neun of the European Cyclist Federation will also join as well as others.
Cooperation with China Bicycle Association
This delegation is to develop a “constructive cooperation” with the China Bicycle Association and is to meet its Chairman Ma Zhongchao. The aim of the meeting to: “Enhance the quality standards for bicycle and e-bikes on a common basis and help the development of cycling infrastructures and culture.”
Li-battery e-bike Industry Summit
The delegation from Europe will also visit the “China International Li-battery E-bike Industry Summit 2014.” This will be held on April 13. Here CBA’s Chairman Ma will make a keynote speech on the topic of “New ideas of industrialization of Lithium-Ion battery equipped e-bikes”.
Samsung SDI will talk about “general description on the Asian Lithium e-bike market”. Other speakers are Hannes Neupert, (President of Extra Energy from Germany), Michael Pecht (Professor from University of Maryland and director of Computer-Aided product life cycle engineering center) and James Post (Managing Director from Dutch International Battery Test Co., Ltd.). They will discuss technology, battery management system and testing standards for lithium-ion batteries for e-bikes.
The e 24th. China International Bicycle Fair (known as China Cycle 2014) takes place from April 13 to 16 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Here 1,329 exhibitors are displaying their newest products on a 130,000m² exhibition area. With that China Cycle 2014 is before opening its doors already record breaking.
