Baltik Vairas Recalls Reva Made E-Bike Batteries
SIAULIAI, Lithuania – E-bike and bicycle manufacturer Baltik Vairas issued a voluntary recall of approximately 4,100 batteries produced by Reva in Germany. Baltik Vairas found that the batteries could suffer from a defective sealing if the instructions in the owners’ manual were not followed precisely. This could result in moisture accumulation in the battery which in turn can lead to self-ignition.
So far nine cases of self-ignition or overheating of the battery have been reported in Denmark, Austria and Germany. Baltik Vairas takes full responsibility to resolve this matter as battery maker and supplier Reva GmbH went bankrupt last year. The recall concerns e-bikes made by Baltik Vairas between 2012 and 2014.
The recall includes:
- the brands: Ruhrwerk, Panther, Göricke, Böttcher, Crosswave, D-Cycle, Ebsen, Kristall, EBIKE, Ultrasport, Spezi, MSA.
- frame number ranging from 00022543 to 00049980
- Reva battery models No 03500-00351
- battery numbers ANBD00305G to ANBD03120G and BNAD00856H to BNAD04316H
