Haibike Recalls Xduro Race, Superrace and Urban Models
SCHWEINFURT, Germany – Winora Group’s sports premium brand Haibike issued a voluntary recall of its Bosch equipped Xduro e-performance bikes. The recall includes models Race, the Superrace and Urban.
The reason for this recall is problems with the (rigid) front fork. Due to large tolerances in the production of the forks, cracks and fractures might occur. According to Winora 1,765 Xduro e-performance are involved in this voluntary recall.
“We decided to issue this voluntary recall after minor cracks and fractures occurred when the forks where stress-tested above the standard,” explains Winora Group GM Susanne Puello. “At the present time a manufacturer’s error can’t be ruled out.”
Therefore consumers are urged to stop using their ‘Xduro’ and contact their dealer immediately. “The safety of our e-bikes and their riders are our highest concern,” states Susanne Puello. “That’s why we regularly carry out a major program of stress tests at external institutes. Our testing criteria are partly well above DIN-, ISO- or EN-standards. The latest findings of one of these tests made us decide to issue this voluntary recall.”
These ‘Xduro’ models and model years are affected by this recall:
- Haibike XDURO Urban (model years 2014, 2015)
- Haibike XDURO Urban RC (model year 2016)
- Haibike XDURO Race (model years 2014, 2015)
- Haibike XDURO Superrace (model years 2014, 2015)
- Haibike XDURO Race S RX (model year 2016)
- Haibike XDURO Race S PRO (model year 2016)
- Haibike XDURO Urban S RX (model year 2016)
- Haibike XDURO Urban S PRO (model year 2016)
According to the Winora Group all Haibike dealers have been or soon will be informed about the recall by mail “with all information including a guideline.”
Guidelines for IBDs
This IBD guideline comes with a detailed step-by-step what to-do action program when a consumer enters his shop. Moreover Winora Group launched a website presenting all the recall information for both IBDs and consumers.
“With all the measures we have taken we will ensure a quick and trouble-free operation of this recall,” assures Puello.
