EU Tariff Codes for PTW Parts to be Revised
Current codes related to road transport do not provide a comprehensive description of motorcycles and mopeds components, as is the case for cars and bicycles.

The Italian Industry Association ANCMA, supported by ACEM (the European association for the PTW industry in Europe), asked the European Commission to revise the tariff codes for PTW parts and components

No description for PTW components
According to ANCMA, the current codes related to road transport do not provide a comprehensive description of motorcycles and mopeds components, as is the case for cars and bicycles. “Every year, a considerable amount of PTW parts and components (both for OEM and for aftermarket) is imported in the EU territory from third countries”, says ANCMA in their statement. “Without a specific codification it is almost impossible to provide an indication of their origin, characteristics and quality with the risk of having serious and negative implications for the safety of the users.”

The improved regulations aim at safeguarding the EU market from unfair competition and violation of intellectual property.
