Industry Gathers in Taichung for Model Year 2017 Specs
TAICHUNG, Taiwan – Though the plan to add an additional fifth location next to the Evergreen, Splendor, Tempus and Millenium Vee hotel was not necessary to provide space for all exhibitors, the Taichung Bike Week has just had two successful show days.
Compared to last year the number of exhibitors is still slightly up. “After some years with a huge growth, the Taichung Bike Week has reached its cruising altitude,” says show initiator Steve Fenton. When talking to the exhibitors and looking around on the show floor, the main growth comes from visiting distributors and not anymore from product managers, but this doesn’t result in jammed packed corridors yet.
Not only about 2017 specs
At Taichung Bike Week it is not only about meetings on 2017 specifications in booths and hotel rooms. The component manufacturers, but also the bicycle brands take the opportunity to meet and discuss issues with their distributors for which they did not have enough time at the busy autumn shows.
The timing mid October, three weeks earlier than in 2014 is appreciated by many exhibitors and visitors. However the show schedule might even move to an earlier date next year.
Convention centre in 2019
The Taichung Bike Week welcome party was organized again by the Taichung city government on Wednesday night. Every year the plan to build a new convention centre in the city pops up during the event. However this year, the city government officially announced that they are aiming at a 150,000 square meter convention centre to be ready by 2019. It should provide space for 2,500 booths. It will be located near the airport.
