NOTTINGHAM, UK (April 16) – Holding company Raleigh Cycle Ltd. appointed Mathias Seidler as its new Managing Director of Derby Cycle Werke GmbH. He will replace Kim Roether, who is to resign by May 31. “Roether served as Derby’s German MD for five years and will continue his career outside the bicycle industry”, according to President & CEO of Raleigh Cycle, Alan Finden-Crofts.
The press release of Raleigh Cycle Ltd. presents no reasons for Roether’s resignation. However, it is no secret that Roether’s position was under fire due to the poor performance of Derby Germany. During the first half year of 2001 sales collapsed by one third while revenues dropped with over 25%. Only recently Roether was forced to close down one of the two factories Derby operated in Germany.
Seidler is the current Sales and Marketing director at the German Derby Cycle Werke. “He has full support of all the shareholders and we wish every success in his appointment”, concludes Finden-Crofts. (FN)
