FREJUS, France – (September 24) The French bike show Roc d’Azur annually held in the beautiful southern region of France has an extra theme this year. At the end of July some 10.000 hectares of woodland in the Maures area burnt in less than 24 hours. This also destroyed many of the Roc d’Azurs routes, like the 45 km ‘randonnee’ course. Now the remaining trails will lead the cyclists’ trough burnt woods and ashes. To counter this ecological tragedy the organizers of the Roc d’Azur will donate €1 per visitor to be used to plant new trees in the area so that it can be restored to it former beauty.
