UCI in Favor of New EPO Test for Tour

GENEVA, Switzerland (26 May 2000)–The International Cycling Union (UCI) said it was ready to risk using a new test to detect the banned hormone EPO at this summer’s Tour de France. UCI president Hein Verbruggen said the urine test was being pushed through a validation process they admitted was less rigorous than the International Olympics
