    Valeo steps up e-drive series production in 2024

    CHATELLERAULT, France - For 2024 the French automotive and e-bike supplier Valeo projects to manufacture 500 drive units per week, or 25,000 for the whole year. For the next 3 years, Valeo expects to scale the production volumes very quickly.

    NANTOU, Taiwan - The transition from a bicycle to e-bike centered industry brought major changes to Taiwan's export industry. New companies have been founded in the past few years while also the country's renowned electronics industry is presenting itself more explicitly in the e-bike industry. One of the recent starters in the e-bike industry is Yota Cycles, founded in 2020.

    UK e-bike insurer Laka raises €7.6 million and acquires French competitor

    LONDON, England - Laka, an insurtech providing a range of insurance and circular economy services to e-bike riders, cyclists and companies has announced a €7.6 million funding round as it "doubles down on growth" with the rise of e-bike sales in Europe. Additionally, the Porsche-backed company has acquired French e-bike broker Cylanto to expand its presence in France.

    'Bluetooth interface essential solution to prevent e-bike tuning'

    SCHWEINFURT, Germany - Tuning an e-bike highly increases the risk of the batteries catching on fire. Driving at higher speed requires more energy output which does not match with the setting of the battery management system. Velotech expert Ernst Brust therefore calls for a mandatory integration of a uniform Bluetooth interface.

    UK e-bike insurer secures multimillion funding for European expansion

    CHESTER, England - Bikmo, a UK-based specialist cycle and e-mobility insurer has raised £3.4 million (€3.9 million) in a Series A extension round to accelerate European expansion and drive product innovation. The specialist insurer currently protects over 75,000 riders in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Austria through strategic partnerships with brands such as British Cycling, Cyclescheme and folding bike specialist Brompton.
