Bike Europe白皮書裡的電動自行車型號認證要求規定已經更新
涵蓋了大部分電動自行車型號的新型號認證法規在2017年1月1日就會生效。唯一排除在型號認證法規之外、也因此被歸類為自行車的類別就是在踏板輔助下最高速度為每小時25公里且最大功率為250W的電動自行車。除此之外的其他類別，包括了所謂的speed pedelecs或高速電動自行車都在型號認證的規範裡。
