NUNSPEET, the Netherlands - New firmware has been released by Shimano to make automatic gear shifting possible for e-bikes with Shimano Steps drive train and Nexus-8 Di2 hub drive units.

COLOGNE, Germany - Europe's bicycle buyers powerhouse Zweirad-Einkaufs-Genossenschaft eG - better known as ZEG - is stepping through its wholly owned subsidiary Eurorad Deutschland GmbH into the tourist business. Under the brand name Travelbike ZEG claims to create, "The largest rental network for e-bikes."

PIETARSAARI, Finland - Finnish component manufacturer Herrmans Oy Ab announces that it is to expand its production facilities for bicycle components by 50% in the next five years. Reason for the big expansion is Herrmans' confidence in the growth of cycling as well as in its speed to market capabilities allowing for swift deliveries and flexibility to European bike factories.

HARTMANNSDORF, Germany - In 2015 the brand Diamant not only celebrated its 130th anniversary, but it was also very successful production wise. Last year the Trek owned facility in Hartmannsdorf, Germany produced over 150,000 bikes.
