REGAU, Austria - In order to continue growing as quickly as possible and to meet current demand, Austrian OEM bicycle and e-bike assembler WSF Bicycle Technology GmbH has launched a crowdinvesting campaign. With a funding goal of €400,000, the company aims to increase the output of its factory from 25,000 bicycles and e-bikes per year to 100,000 units per year by 2026.

ZEIST, The Netherlands - Automotive suppliers entering the e-bike market has been a trend over the past few years. Trade shows like IAA Mobility which aims to integrate all mobility providers under one umbrella demonstrates the slight cracks in the car industry's dominance as other forms of mobility successfully emerge. OSAKA, Japan - Shimano has announced two new mechanical groupset introductions. The Shimano 105 12-speed Mechanical groupset completes the 12-speed road family. Meanwhile for the gravel segment, Shimano's new GRX Mechanical 12-Speed provides more gearing options for gravel cyclists.

LONDON, England - Lavoie, the e-scooter unit of British Formula One engineering and technology firm McLaren Applied, has agreed to buy bankrupt Dutch e-bike brand VanMoof, Reuters is reporting today. The new buyer states that it plans to invest in stabilising and expanding the business. This includes a switch to using third party retailers.

TAICHUNG, Taiwan - As the third in line after Giant and Merida, Ideal has also reported red figures for this year. While the bicycle manufacturer was still able to keep up its Q1 revenue at a comparably good level with a slight 1.8 % decrease, Q2 2023 saw a double-digit downshift.

PARIS, France - The Taiwanese e-bike brand Besv is entering the European market step-by-step with France being the latest milestone. This was announced at the Pro Days event in Paris. "The launch marks a significant milestone for us as we continue to expand our European presence, now in the thriving French market," said Besv Europe brand manager Bram Reitsma.

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands - Pon.Bike is building on the number of brands in its portfolio with the acquisition of premium cycling shoe brand, Nimbl. Headquartered in Porto Sant'Elpidio, Italy, Nimbl was founded in 2020 and has since expanded its business worldwide. The sale price has not been disclosed.

FRANKFURT, Germany - German automotive supplier Hirschvogel Holding GmbH (as known as Hirschvogel Automotive Group) already marked its entry into the micromobility field at both IAA Mobility 2021 and Eurobike 2022. At this year's Eurobike the first e-bike drive system as part of a component platform for cargo bikes and urban mobility, created under its own brand name Aximo, caused a stir.

An industry outsider, Jochen Vogt aims to "change from a manufacturer with individual assembly to a series producer with line production."

FREIRACHDORF, Germany - Müsing manufacturer Radsportvertrieb Ditmar Bayer GmbH is another bicycle company which has fallen into financial difficulties. On Wednesday August 23rd, the responsible district court Montabaur officially announced that the German company has filed for insolvency in self-administration.

MUNICH, Germany - As IAA Mobility prepares to open its doors next week, the organisers are hoping that integrating all mobility offerings will the push the platform further. Cycling & Mobility is one of the six formats that the show will present during the 5-day event. "The dedicated topic expresses the strategic relevance we attribute to cycling," the organisers explain.

OBERWANGEN, Switzerland - To step up its digital experience and expand in the area of connectivity, speed pedelec manufacturer Stromer has opened a new digital unit in Romania. According to Stromer, the Romanian office will complement the development team at the company's head office in Switzerland.
