ATHENS, Greece (9 March 2000)–According to Greece’s Minister of Finance Papantoniou, after six years of making adjustments the country is now ready to join the European Monetary Union (EMU), a.k.a. the Euro club. Papantoniou, who made the announcement earlier this week, has already sent his request to Brussels.
