MILAN, Italy (18 April 2000)–Italian scooter major Aprilia has taken over its competitor Moto Guzzi. The acquisition includes Moto Guzzi’s French, German and US sales organizations, as well as the company’s ITL132 million debt. At the beginning of January Moto Guzzi’s majority shareholder (62%), the US Trident Rowan group, announced that it was looking for either a partner or a buyer for Guzzi. Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati was also interested in acquiring Moto Guzzi. (JW)
