BRUSSELS, Belgium (13 September 2000) — US/European component manufacturer SRAM has approached the industry as a whole for the first time by way of a general letter. In the letter, the component manufacturer says that “The price of internal hubs has been significantly less when purchased from Shimano’s Neuss warehouse than from Shimano Japan. Therefore , Shimano’s statement that it ‘uses the same price structure when selling its products in Japan and Europe’ is not correct. SRAM also says that the result is “a 20-30% drop in internal hub prices between 1997 and 2000” and that “[a]ction is in the best interest of the European Community.” For a complete version of the letter log onto our dumping page on this site.
