MUNICH, Germany – Sporthouse.de AG, the sporting goods (including bicycles) virtual store idea led by Giant-Germany`s former GM Ralf Kindermann (see BE August 2000 issue, page 48), was shelved before it even became reality. According to Kindermann the new economy market (also nicknamed “speed-economy”) changes too quickly: “When we started, our step was right. Unfortunately at the present time the global consumer confidence in the new economy is less greedy than it was”. So it seems that the new economy market is swallowed step by step by the old economy. Since the IT stock market euphoria dwindled, the Munich-based company cancelled their virtual B2C sporting goods business right in time. Now they will concentrate on their more profitable existing core business in the golf world. Sporthouse.de is a leading player in the European internet golf portal, but it also develops golf court software and golf court management. (JB)
