MUNICH, Germany – German mass merchant Aldi is immediately reacting on the current good weather in most parts of Europe. New bicycles and equipment have already been introduced on the company’s website www.aldi.com as well as through flyers. This time Aldi-Süd is offering several bikes for absolute killer prices through its chain market stores in the UK, Ireland and Southern Germany. On Aldi-UK’ s and Aldi-Irland’s website consumers find a full suspension downhill mountainbike that will be sold from August 2 for £ 139.99. This bike is equipped with one disc and one v-brake. While Aldi-Sued sold already a wide range of bicycle equipment in Germany this spring the latest offer (available from 6 August) presents a full-suspension mountain bike for DEM 598. It is equipped with Shimano’s Deore shifting, RST front suspension fork, adjustable Aheadset and a front disc brake. Aldi gives a ten year guaranty on the Hi-Ten-steel Y-frame and two years on all parts. Aldi refuses to name the producer of this low-end full suspension product, but its an open secret that it comes out of one of the former East_German factories. While the German Bicycle Industry Association ZIV advocates the formula of high-end and high quality bikes and blames the Taiwanese and Chinese for their low-end products coming into Germany most low-end bicycles at mass merchants like Aldi or Praktiker are made by German producers.
