HO CHI MINH City, Vietnam (April 24) – A&J Worldwide Group has opened its newest factory in Binh Duong province, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The 150,000 sq feet state of the art facility has 2 production lines capable of producing 800,000 to 1million bikes. The facility is aiming to make mid to high end products for the European and American markets and represents an investment of over US$ 3.5million. Production target for 2003 stands at 500,000 bicycles. According to A&J Worldwide Group, production space in April, May, June and July is already fully booked, with orders to Europe.
A&J purchased the land for the new factory in March 2002 and construction began in May. The facility consists of automatic and semi-automatic wet and dry painting lines, 3 miles of overhead conveyor while 240 employees assemble the 500,000 bikes that will be produced in 2003. Quality Control is done by experienced Taiwanese supervisors. Frame building will be added in the 2nd Phase in August 2003.
Next to latest addition to A&J, the company has an assembly and a sales office in the UK and a procurement & QC Office in southern China. A&J’s head office is in Taichung Taiwan. Arthur Shyu, President of A&J worldwide Group formed the company in 1994 and soon joined the list of Taiwan’s top ten volume exporters of complete bicycles. (JO)
