TAICHUNG, Taiwan (May 26) – Giant Global Group reports 7% higher sales during the first quarter of 2003. Sales totalled TWD 4.64 billion (€ 114.8mn) with stable revenues in the US and Europe and, despite the SARS epidemic, promising results in China. During the first quarter Giant produced 1,112,000 bicycles. The output of its facilities in China stood at 675,000 units produced in Kunshan and 248,000 in Shanghai. In Taiwan Giant assembled 164,000 bikes while its facility in Lelystad, The Netherlands saw a production total of 60,000 units. Consolidated income for the Giant Global Group increased 10% to TWD 376.2 million (€ 9.3mn). (JO)
