OOLTEWAH, US (Aug 26) – A bold claim, but if the weight indicated on the website is correct, it might well be so.

The American Bicycle Group, known for many years as Litespeed, will be introducing the new frame on September 1st – there is even a countdown on the website. The titanium frame weighs a lean 1.7 pounds (770 grams), according to the company.

“We’ve pushed the innovation and technology envelope,” Chief Executive Steve Lewis said in a recent interview.

The business, owned by Connecticut-based JHK Investment, next year marks 20 years as a maker of the high-end bikes.

Mr. Lewis said the business, which makes road, mountain and triathlon bikes, is in a growth mode. Sales are expected to hit $32 million this year, the CEO said. (MH)
