TIANJIN, China (Oct 27) – The electric bike is growing popular among Chinese urban residents thanks to its convenience, environmental-friendliness, low energy consumption, and low price. Statistics from the China Bicycle Association show that the country now has 15 million electric bikes in use.
Industry experts hold that China has broad market prospects for electric bikes. At present, China has about 450 million bicycles users, with 600 million bicycles in use.
Experts predict that some bicycle users will change to use electric bikes in the coming years, likely to bring the China’s total number of electric bikes in use to more than 40 million units.
A survey shows that 76% of Chinese urbanites have the intention to buy electric bikes because of reasons including; motor vehicles are very expensive; riding bicycle is tiresome; public buses are too crowded; and riding motorcycle is dangerous and also banned by many cities. (MH)
