Mavic: off to a Good Start

ANNECY, France Mavic recently reported a strong first quarter of 2006. The French wheel, component and accessory maker saw its turnover increase by 15% to 29.1 million. Also Mavic owner, the Salomon Group, which is especially big in winter sports equipment (35% of total sales), had a good first three months of the year with also a 15% increase in turnover to 123.3 million.

Mavic: off to a Good Start

ANNECY, France – Mavic recently reported a strong first quarter of 2006. The French wheel, component and accessory maker saw its turnover increase by 15% to € 29.1 million. Also Mavic owner, the Salomon Group, which is especially big in winter sports equipment (35% of total sales), had a good first three months of the year with also a 15% increase in turnover to € 123.3 million. However, the holding company for both the Salomon Group and Mavic, Amer Sports, booked a net loss of € 2.4 million during the first quarter of 2006. This result was better than the pro forma loss of € 5.0 million on the first three months of 2005. In its statement on the financial results during the first quarter of 2006 Amer Sport noted that the demand for sports equipment was strong in 2005 en the company sees that trend continuing in 2006. The company expects a total turnover of € 1.8 billion this year compared to € 1.723 billion in 2005. (JO)
