Royal Dutch Gazelle Sells Frame Production Line

DIEREN, Netherlands – After 110-plus years, frame building will cease at Royal Dutch Gazelle. Effectively the last bicycle frame production line in western Europe. It produces 350.000 steel frames per annum, based on two shifts, 5 days a week. The line is highly atomised and consists of 180 machines. Production will end in July 2006. The whole machine park has been offered for sale to whomever might be interested in re-starting such a production line. In the mid-eighties, Gazelle introduced their induction brazing system, which was for over 20 years used for the production of steel frames which formed the platform of Gazelle’s popular range of ‘Primeur’ City bikes. The frame production line is sold by: GoIndustry Appelboom, Mr. Tom Declerck, Tel: +32 (3) 440 00 99, Mobile: +32 (0) 473 563 623, Fax: +32 (3) 440 7267, Email: tom.declerck@goindustry.com (MH)
