AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – At last week’s press conference on Accell Group’s 2007 results, CEO René Takens was remarkably open about his targets for 2008. He is eying in Italy and Spain for further acquisitions and is looking in particular at companies like Ghost, the German maker of high-quality mountain and racing bikes that was taken over by Accell mid February.
Takens said: “We are looking to take-over companies like Ghost in Italy and Spain; companies that are considered top brands in their markets and that have an annual turnover of between 25 and 75 million euro. As Accell’s export to Italy and Spain is growing, we are now looking to acquire a wholly owned market position in these countries with local top brands.”
