SALISBURY, UK – PowaCycle will start a Europe-wide operation from its German based European warehouse this month, supplying the PowaCycle electric bikes to dealers in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and France.
The decision to enter Europe follows the rapid rise of the PowaCycle brand, which has been introduced in the UK just three years ago. PowaCycle is a trading style of Ultima Networks PLC, a company committed to green transport.
The PowaCycle electric bikes, Windsor LPX and Salisbury LPX have been adapted to meet the European requirements.
“We are excited about opportunities in Europe”, says Wazz Mughal, MD of PowaCycle. “The distribution centre is located at Moenchengladbach in Germany, which is close to the border with the Netherlands, and an ideal centre at the heart of the European electric bike market.
Germany and the Netherlands between them account for over half of European electric bikes sold last year. The European market for electric bikes is forecast to grow from approximately 250,000 units in 2007 to some 750,000 in 2009.”
Launched in the UK in the first quarter of 2008, PowaCycle’s Salisbury LPX and Windsor LPX were the first electric bikes from a UK producer powered by Lithium Polymer batteries. According to the supplier both bikes have a “power assisted” range of 43-60 kilometres per charge.
