Last year, electronics giant Philips made its first careful steps into the bicycle industry when presenting their new headlight at Eurobike. This year, the Dutch company presented a full range of LED headlights featuring the latest technology. Their aim is clear: to become one of the leading global players in high-end bicycle lighting.

The Philips Saferide product range is based on two high Luxeon Rebel LEDs, which provide a high amount of light, and optimum efficiency with a high luminance. The special design of the reflector focuses the beam, providing a homogeneous illumination on the road. The Saferide family has a strong and robust aluminium housing creating an ideal heat dissipation of the LEDs. The aluminium surface is above all resistant to environmental influences.

For the introduction Philips is putting a strong emphasis on the aftermarket first, while in the long run the OE Market will be their main target. The Saferide product range contains the following models: the Saferide e-bike light which is the world’s first bicycle light that meets the legal requirements of a motorcycle headlight to 125 cc and thus can be used for all e-bikes. The next one is the Dynamo Saferide, approved by the StVZO and one of the brightest dynamo headlight on the market. Finally, the Pedelec Saferide which is specifically designed for Pedelecs.
