“We are convinced that the e-bike will change mobility in Europe for ever”, says Heiko Mueller, managing director of Riese & Mueller. “The e-bike provides the bicycle industry with a long term growth product. We are already focusing on this market segment. The continuing high demand encourages us in our project to become market leader in the e-bike premium segment in Europe.”

The Darmstadt based manufacturer is confident that its ambitions can be achieved in cooperation with retailers. “The sale of e-bikes brings big changes for retailers. The business is exciting but also more complex. We want to be a true partner for the IBD”, explains Heiko Mueller.
To support the IBD, Riese & Mueller developed a 3-point program for their ‘hybrid offensive’ that will be kicked off at Eurobike. First of all: the right bike for each customer. Riese & Mueller’s mission is to provide the right bike for each type of customer. Therefore the company supplies a wide range of drive systems. Second: the e-bike has to function and be most reliable. Riese & Mueller is currently working on optimizing existing drive systems.
From 2012 there three models in 13 variants will be equipped with the Bosch electronic system. Third: IBDs can only concentrate on its core business if he is supported by his suppliers. Riese & Mueller will provide extensive training programs to make engineering documentation understandable as well as professional training on the site. During the 2011 season Riese & Mueller already made a mobile workshop and a newly created technical staff available to its customers.
