In recent years saddles with anatomical cut-outs have become increasingly popular. A recess or even a full cut-out in a saddle reduces pressure on the genital area and provides more comfort and subsequently more fun on long rides.
However, everyday practice reveals that some cyclists suffer from saddle soreness in another way. Anatomical saddles cause pressure to concentrate in other areas of the buttocks. To be more exact: on the sides.
The latest line of saddles by Selle Royal Ergogel responds to this problem. The anatomical cut-out of Ergogel contains a Plugin of very soft gel that does not compress the genital area, but rather offers support. In this way the pressure is spread out evenly across the buttocks, which make the latest Ergogel saddles offer all the advantages of an anatomical outline, however, without compromising the comfort elsewhere.
The Plugin (or filling) is made of Royalgel, Selle Royal’s patented soft gel that comes from Bayer, Germany. Thanks to a unique new technology it’s possible to incorporate varying densities in the Plugin, so the different contact points of the cyclist with the saddle are supported according to their own needs. The Plugin distributes pressure in three directions (horizontal, vertical and lateral), a feature so far never seen before in comfort materials for saddles.
Another particular innovation is that the Plugin is easily removable. So if your Plugin needs to be replaced, for example after intensive use, it can be exchanged quickly for a new one. No tools are required, so it’s easy as one-two-three.
