Big Fire at Wholesaler Hartje (updated)
HOYA, Germany – Yesterday evening a large fire erupted at the main warehouse of German wholesaler Hartje. According to preliminary reports, the fire started in Hall 8, where tens of thousands bikes and e-bikes are stocked..

Statement Hermann Hartje KG
In an official statement, Hermann Hartje KG announced that two of six recently completed new buildings were destroyed by a fire in the Hertzstraße, Hoya last night. “Fortunately nobody was not injured. The damage will amount up to several millions. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet and police investigation is in progress”, says Hartje in the statement.
The fire was detected and immediately reported via fire alarm on October 16th. About 550 firefighters, disaster relief squads and police were in action. The two damaged halls housed the facility to assemble bicycles as well as the storage of spare parts and mounting materials and 10,000 bicycles.
According to Hartje the operation in the other warehouse sections will continue. The operation of company’s businesses bicycle parts, motorized two-wheelers and the automotive sector is not affected. Hartje’s delivery service is fully operational.
All sales events, such as the car show this weekend will take place as planned.
