Shimano USA Expands Distribution Centre
LADSON, USA – Shimano American Corporation will double the size of its South Carolina distribution center by adding nearly 99,000 square-feet to the current facility built in 2006. The addition is scheduled to be ready by August 2013.
According to Shimano American Corp’s president Dave Pfeiffer, “the expansion contains more than just doubling the size of our facility. With this investment we will be prepared for both current and future distribution needs for all our brands.”
“It is a necessary step in order to increase services to our business partners up and down the East Coast and throughout the Midwest and Southern states. We look forward to our South Carolina facility playing a larger role in Shimano’s operations in the U.S”, stated Dave Pfeiffer.
The expanded facility will allow Shimano to improve automated material handling. Along with the Shimano bicycle components and fishing tackle, the company distributes its G.Loomis fishing rods and PowerPro fishing line from the Ladson facility. In the near future also the distribution of the Pearl Izumi cycling and running products will take place in Ladson.
