Giant Will Not Be Rabobankteam’s Main Sponsor
AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands – Giant will not start as the main sponsor of the Rabobank cycling team. After Rabobank announced to stop its 15 million euro costing sponsoring by the end of this year, Giant showed an interest in taking this over. However, the world’s biggest in bikes announced not to go through with this.
Despite that Giant refrains from acting as the main sponsor of what till the end of this year is called the Rabobankteam, the Taiwan based bike maker will continue to act as the official bike sponsor for the fifth consecutive year. The 2013 agreement includes that the Taiwan based bike maker will also supply all team apparel, including racing, training and casual gear, for the team riders and staff.
According to a Dutch newspaper report Giant Europe marketing manager Tom Davies said that Giant wants to be part of the sponsoring of the team, but does not want to act as the most important and title-sponsor. “This is no longer our objective. This has not only to do with financial considerations. It would also not fit with Giant’s marketing strategy”, said Davies..
