Schaeffler Links Up with German ZIV
SCHWEINFURT, Germany – Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG joined the German industry organization ZIV. Schaeffler is a leading provider of bearing solutions for the automotive industry. In the bicycle industry Schaeffler is known for its e-bike components.
“Our decision to join ZIV emphasizes the importance of the sector and its significance within the company”, says Claus-Dieter Schilling, Senior Market Developer LEV, Bicycle, Transport and Sport at Schaeffler. The globally active group of companies generated sales of approximately 11.1 billion euro in 2012. With approximately 76,000 employees worldwide, Schaeffler is one of the largest German and European industrial companies in family ownership.
Schaeffler has decades of experience in the development and manufacturing of bicycle bearings. The origins of rolling bearing manufacturing on an industrial scale were closely linked with the invention of the bicycle and its popularity as an individual means of mass transport from the end of the 19th century. FAG’s core products were always bottom brackets, which were offered as complete kits. In addition to bottom brackets, these components include hub bearings, headset bearings and bearings and seals for gear hubs.
Schaeffler recently brought intelligent sensor bottom brackets onto the market. Ready-to-fit torque sensor bottom brackets from the FAG brand have a high load capacity and are simple to fit.
“We are very pleased that through Schaeffler’s membership we are able to continue the association’s course for growth. This membership indicates that ZIV’s range of services has awakened a great deal of interest”, says Siegfried Neuberger, managing director of ZIV.
