Accell Continues Restructuring Fitness Division
MUNICH, Germany – Last Sunday, on the opening day of the world’s leading sporting goods show, Ispo Munich 2014, Accell Group’s fitness subsidiary Tunturi announced to stop operating under its second brand name Bremshey.
Already for some years Accell Group NV is restructuring its fitness division. Next to that the world wide operating holding company for in particular bicycle and bike P&A companies, is having its fitness division up for sale. The next step in the ongoing restructuring process is that the company wants to concentrate on its Tunturi premium brand name.
Focus on Tunturi
Accell Group acquired rights to the Bremshey brand name as well as several distribution rights to other fitness products out of a bankruptcy procedure in 2006. At the Ispo Munich show Tunturi Fitness GM Steef Ploeger said, “Tunturi is one of the strongest and well-known fitness brands in the world market.With the focus on this brand we and our distributors aim on a more effective communication for raising brand awareness of Tunturi also as the market is more and more relying on strong brands.”
At Ispo a new Tunturi product range was presented under the slogan “It’s easy to feel good.” Compared with the bicycle activities of Europe’s largest premium bicycle supplier Accell Group the fitness segment is small. It represented a 3% share in Accell Group’s 2012 sales. Over the last years this business was also weak.
